When I received an art museum press release describing a “process-based aesthetic,” a puzzled look crossed my features and, drooling, I turned back to “The Flintstones” — the immortal episode where Barney invents a flying machine. The opera house/bowling alley twist is hilarious! However, back to the aesthetic deal: As it pertains to “Cued by Color ... Paintings and Mixed media Work by Michael DesRosiers,” a new exhibition opening Saturday in the Glassenberg Gallery at New London’s Lyman Allyn Art Museum, it all makes glorious sense. This is a color-happy show demonstrating the artist’s innovative and distinctive work.
The free opening reception takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday and features food, drinks and musical entertainment. Through Jan. 31. 625 Williams St., New London; Hours 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues.-Sat., 1-5 p.m. Sun.; (860) 443-2545.
